ABOUT

Located in the southern Gold Coast’s vibrant & bustling suburb of Coolangatta, Kefi Café was designed to bring a fun, laid-back dining experience as a daily go-to for locals and visitors alike. Inspired by Mediterranean culture, where gathering and sharing meals are central, Kefi aims to offer guests a warm, welcoming experience. Owner Marina’s vision was to create a space that feels inviting and cohesive, where the interior design reflects Kefi’s relaxed, community-centered brand identity.

The interior design of Kefi Café draws directly from its Mediterranean-inspired branding, creating a space that feels cohesive and visually consistent.

COHESIVE
Where Interior Meets Brand

Pops of colour, tactile materials and sculptural wall brand motifs were introduced as a nod to Mediterranean architecture, adding depth and authenticity to the space.

To maintain visual cohesion, the café’s colour palette mirrors its branding. Bold tangerine accents appear in various elements, from the umbrellas shading the outdoor seating area to the vibrant tiles that wrap around the central dining counter. These touches of colour establish a strong brand presence, making the design instantly recognisable while creating an inviting, vibrant environment. Through these choices, the design tells a clear, consistent brand story across all touchpoints, allowing guests to feel immersed in Kefi’s Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic.

ATMOSPHERE
Guest Experience At The Forefront

The design approach focused on creating an environment where guests feel comfortable and at ease. The café’s earthy material choices, such as microcement counters and lime-wash walls, were selected for both their aesthetic and functional benefits. The microcement provides a sleek yet natural finish, while the limewash painted walls add texture and a sense of warmth, complementing the Mediterranean theme. These materials are not only visually appealing but are also highly durable, making them ideal for the café’s high-traffic areas. Lighting was another key consideration. Soft, ambient lighting was chosen to enhance the café’s relaxed atmosphere, creating a warm glow that adds to the sense of comfort. This, combined with natural light from large windows, makes the café feel open and airy, inviting guests to linger and enjoy their experience. Each design element aligns with the café’s brand values and was selected with the guest experience in mind, ensuring that visitors feel welcomed and comfortable, whether they’re enjoying a quick coffee or a long lunch.

COMMUNITY
A Destination in Coolangatta

Kefi Café is designed not just as a dining spot but as a community space that reflects the charm and relaxed coastal vibe of Coolangatta. The layout encourages social interaction, with both individual and communal seating options that cater to a variety of guest preferences. Outdoor seating is included to take advantage of Coolangatta’s beachside locale, allowing guests to enjoy their meals in the open air while feeling connected to the local community. The goal was to create a space that feels approachable and versatile, appealing to both locals looking for a comfortable gathering place and visitors seeking a distinctive café experience.
